Greek Yogurt Chicken Salad

We all know that mayo isn’t the healthiest choice when it comes to condinements, but no worries mayo lovers! I recently have tried making chicken salad with plain greek yogurt rather than mayo and it tastes just as delicious with no fat! Delcious and a healthier option, why not try it ???!?!

1 can of chicken breast: this is the kind I recommend

3 TBSP plain greek yogurt (I use Chobani brand)

10 purple grapes, sliced in halves (use as many or less as you desire)

2 tbsp chopped pecans (use as many or less as you desire)

salt and pepper to taste

Mix all ingtediants together in a medium size bowl and Enjoy it on a piece of whole wheat bread, crackers, or even just plain!!!

Let me know what you think,

Sugar Overload: is there such thing?

SUGAR, SUGAR, SUGAR!! IT’S EVERYWHERE.

Did you know the recommeneded serving size for Americans is 8 tsps of sugar a day? Many of you probably think that is easy enough to abide by, but what alot of us don’t realize is sugar is in a majority of the things we consume daily. Desserts are not the only place for sugar, yesterday I was surprised myself when I was reading the nutrition facts label on a ketchup bottle. As I was dipping my chicken in ketchup, I read that 1 Tbsp of Heniz ketchup had 4 grams of sugar!!! I’ve seem many of us Americans smother our french fries, chicken, hot dogs, and many other foods in way more than 1 Tbsp of ketchup. Think about how we are only talking about the sugar in ketchup, A CONDIMENT, that doesn’t include the sugar found in the actual foods we’re consuming. Lastly, I just want to bring your attention to this: 1 bottle of cola has 44 grams of sugar, you would divide 44 by 4.2 which is equal to 10 teaspoons of sugar!!! That is exceeding your daily limit with just 1 bottle of soda. Now that’s what you call a sugar overload. This is scary to think about when you see people drinking 3-4 sodas a day.YIKES!

More Flavor, Less Calories!

Hi All!!!

As most of us would like to consume less calories in the new year, but that doesn’t mean your food can’t still be full of flavor!?! This new year I challenage you to experiment with spices, herbs, and seasonings. There is no right or wrong way to use them, you may like a lot of something or maybe just a pinch. The best way is to make it taste the way that you like it. One of my favorite seasonings is Creole, particularly on chicken breast and homemade sweet potato fries! YUM! Of course though you can try it on tons of different foods that you probably never even thought of. Spices, herbs, and seasonings are a way to add so much flavor to a dish without adding the extra calories. Ditch the extra butter and heavy sauces! Here is a helpful website if you are new to using spices and seasonings to help you get started with some recommented pairsings: http://www.frontiercoop.com/learn/ss_usage.php

It’s a new year don’t be afraid to try new things and new ways to spice up your life 🙂

The Truth about Diets

Good evening all,

The holidays is typically when people decide its time to “get in shape” or “start watching what they eat” Instead of just saying and/or doing this once a year, how about making it part of your lifestyle? Have you ever thought about instead of putting yourself on a “strict diet” for a short period of time, that instead if you just normally eat healthier food choices. That means there really wouldn’t be much of a change toward your eating habits when  it comes to swim suit season??!! This doesn’t mean elimiting yourself from your favorite foods or never being able to have a bowl of ice cream (I mean lets get real ice cream is way to yummy to never eat) A change in your lifestyle of eating choices could mean simply just having one day a week that you choose to cave in and have something that you know you shouldn’t consume on a daily basis. I don’t really believe in diets because once someone is said to be off their diet or done with there diet, what happens? They go right back to eating the junk they did before they started the diet. You need to make it a lifestyle change and live by eating healthy not just 3 months out of the year! You know there always a way to make your favorite comfort dish in a more healthier way, take some time and search for recipes of your favorite foods but lightened, they are out there! Hold yourself accountable and make these changes for in the long run you will look and feel so much better with what you have choosen to put into your body.

Good afternoon everyone!

Today yall should make it the start of something new and clean out your refridgerators as well as your pantry!! We all know that junk food is addicting and if it’s in front of you it just makes it harder to resist. But wait, stop and think if you don’t have it available to you in your household wouldn’t that make it alot easier to avoid? Get rid of all the junk food and sugary drinks! Next, start planning your meals during the week so you know exactly what to get at the grocery store rather than just wondering the aisles where you could very easily spy a bag of Dortios. Something that I just recently thought of would be an excellent idea (and make my life alot easier) would be to make a little menu for yourself/family/roomates! Post it on the fridge each day and you will know exactly what is…

Something that I just recently thought of would be an excellent idea (and make my life alot easier) would be to make a little menu for yourself/family/roomates! Post it on the fridge each day and you will know exactly what is for breakfast lunch and dinner to keep yourself on track toward a healthy lifestyle. You can even include mid-day snacks as well. Just remember if your available to healthy options your more likely to consume them 🙂
